At the end of World War II Willys postponed returning to passenger cars, resuming peacetime production with Jeep based vehicles instead. This included the civilian version of the Military Jeep, a Station Wagon and a Jeepster.
The Jeepster was an open tourer designed by Brooks Stevens who also did the wagon. The Jeepster offered seating for four, 104 inch wheelbase, manual soft top and side curtains.
This Jeepster is equipped with a 72 horsepower 134 cubic inch "Go-Devil" four cylinder engine. A smaller 4 cylinder and a larger 6 cylinder engine was also available in 1949. A little over 2300 were made and original price in 1949 was $1,500.00. This Jeepster is for sale and the totally restored price is $40,000.00.
The Kissel Motor Co. of Hartford, Wisconsin built automobiles from 1906 to 1918. Production stopped due to World War l and the material shortage. However there are some reports the Kissel Kar was to German.
The Kissel Kar Speedster was equipped with a 6 cylinder engine that developed 26.33 horsepower. Other Kissel Kars built in 1920 included a 7 passenger touring car, 4 passenger Tourster, 2 passenger coupe, 6 passenger sedan and a urban sedan.
At Cadillac, 1948 was the "Year of the Tailfin". The 1948 Cadillac Series 61 four door sedan was an American Automobile with one of the first tailfins.
After World War ll Cadillac designers Earl Mitchell and others took a look at the Lockheed P-38 "Lightning" pursuit fighter. Designers and engineers played with ideas for a postwar styling inspired by the planes design features.
Features that include pontoon front fenders, pointy front, cockpit like curved windshield and tailfins. It was the fin that had the most lasting impact.
This 1 million dollar 1932 Duesenberg Model J was introduced at the New York Auto Salon in December of 1928 after 21 months of development from the Duesenburg brothers. The first Model J was delivered in May of 1929. A Duesenburg was defined as a symbol of wealth, power, and the ultimate in available performance! This open car design featured a perfectly raked windscreen and folding convertible top, rear cowl with wind up windshield, striking molding and body side trim resulting in one of the most desirable and rare Deusenburgs today!
Features include the original Duesenburg 420ci 4 valve per cylinder with twin overhead camshaft. Inline 8 cylinder that produced an incredible 265 horsepower with a 3 speed transmission.
This 1935 DeSoto has been carefully and tastefully restored. The DeSoto Airflow was the more affordable version of the Chrysler Airflow that most car buffs are familiar with. However, the DeSoto actually outsold the Chrysler. Engineering wise, the Airflow was significantly ahead of its time, incorporating an all welded steel unibody construction, improved suspension design with softer spring rates for a better ride, and aerodynamic styling that was refined by many hours in the wind tunnel.
The initial version of the Airflow body design was not well received by the public, it was just too futuristic. In order to temper things a bit, DeSoto implemented a SkyScraper grill for 1935, which added a bit of verticality to the front end, and a significant touch of Art Deco class.
This is the car that in 1954 could have "killed" the Corvette. So, Chevrolet, being GM's big sales and profit Division, campaigned to GM to"kill" this car when Chevy was coming out with its 6 cylinder sports car with its two speed Powerglide transmission and side curtains here was a sports car from Olds with a big old V-8 and power windows.
So, GM said no to Oldsmobile on building this car, the world's rarest automobile, a 1954 concept Old's Rocket F88 the only one in existence. John S. Hendricks, (Discovery Communications founder) paid in excess of 3 million to acquire. After spending decades as a collection of parts stuffed into wooden crates the F-88 was reassembled. In 1954 the F-88 was a Motorama Dream Car and was one of only two or an unconfirmed possible three ever created.
The F-88 seen here is literally the only car left of its kind and was sold to John and Maureen Hendricks at the prestigious Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona for an unbelievable $3,240,000. This acquisition made automotive history and is the cornerstone of the Gateway Colorado Automobile Museum in its own special room in a rotating display worthy of the F-88!
Through steam had really been Henry Ford's first love, he soon decided that the future lay with Gasoline engines. The Quadricycle was his first American Automobile and it can be seen one striking quality which anticipated later Ford practice - it weighed only 500 pounds and was the lightest vehicle of it's type yet produced. Bicycle wheels and steel tube chassis were used. Three years of experimentation preceded the car and it was not until June of 1896 that it was moved out of it's shop at 58 Bagley Ave. for a trial spin.
A four cycle two cylinder engine put together from discarded scrap metal bits and a plumber's pipe generated about 3 to 4 horsepower. Two belt were arranged to transmit the engine's power to the drive wheels. A clutch lever tightened or loosened the belts and gave the drive the choice of 10 or 20 MPH speeds.

The Essex Motor Car Company was part of the Hudson Motor Car Company. Essex produced small affordable automobiles and is best known for creating a smaller versions of the Hudson super six. The first Essex was shown in 1919 after it had been delayed due to World War 1. The Essex was a vehicle of great quality and durability. They were equipped with a four and six cylinder engine that was quiet and free of vibration. Over the years Essex sales propelled the Hudson motor car company into third place in overall American Automobile sales for 1929.
In 1927 the Essex Motor Car Company offered the first 2 passenger Speedabout. The lightweight construction and aerodynamic design gave the Speedabout a top speed of 70 to 80 MPH. Essex did not offer the speedabout in 1928 but it did reappear in 1929, with just 5 known examples built and were built as show cars by Hudson

This 1949 Lincoln was equipped with a powerful flathead V8 that was rated a 152 horsepower with 336 cubic inch and a three speed automatic transmission.
1929 Cadillac-LaSalle For Sale. General Motors introduced LaSalle in 1927 as a companion make for Cadillac. GM felt that with a $1,000 gap between Buick and Cadillac, there was room for another car line. This is a Model 328. This collector car has a 328 cubic inch side valve V8 engine, with a three-speed synchromesh transmission, shaft drive, leaf spring and solid axle front suspension, leaf spring and live axle rear suspension and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes. The Wheelbase is 125 inches.
The 1929 Lasalle was designed by Harley Earl (head of GM’s new Art and Color department, the first styling department), the new LaSalle was stunning. With features borrowed from the leading marques of Europe, it offered a fresh face to a public accustomed to relatively drab domestic designs.
For 1936, Ford received a handsome face lift that included graceful V-shaped grille with vertical bars. Horns were now hidden behind front fender mounted grilles. The sole power plant remained the 221 cubic inch 85 horsepower flat head engine. The V-8 engine was still a competitive advantage.

The Duesenberg was one of the most glorious American Automobile makes of the late 1920s and early 1930s. These large powerful automobiles were the work of an outstanding engineer, Frederick Samuel Duesenberg. Duesenberg automobiles reached the height of technical perfection and were owned by royalty, Hollywood stars and business magnates. This Model had a straight eight water cooled engine with four overhead valves to each cylinder. The Bore was 95 mm and stroke was 120.5 mm. A Schebler two barrel carburetor was used. Very few cars could match its acceleration figure of 0-100 MPH in 21 seconds and a maximum speed of 118 MPH.

The Pope-Hartfield was built from 1903 to 1914 by the Pope Mfg. Co. of Hartford, CT. The 1913 Pope-Hartford Roadster body presents a pleasing appearance and was designed to give strength and durability. This American Automobile was built with an 88 inch wheel base and the standard tread of 50 inches. In 1913 both four cylinder 50 horsepower and six cylinder 60 horsepower Pope-Hartfield automobile were made. This Roadster is one of 17 different models produced by the Pope Mfg. Co.
1913 Crow Elkhart Roadster for sale in New York. Dr. L. C. Crow and his son Martin founded The Crow-Elkhart Motor Car Co. in 1909. They produced American Automobiles from 1909 to 1924 in Elkhart, IN. The Crow-Elkhart's engines had some of the first self starters. The 1913 Crow-Elkhart shown about sold new for about $1,200.00.
This 1913 Crow Elkhart was purchased from the Owls Head Museum where it had resided for the last twelve years. This great looking brass era automobile still has it's original 33 horsepower 4 cylinder Atlas engine and three speed transmission. Color is black and interior is black leather.
1950 Hudson Pacemaker Club Coupe for sale in Arizona. The engine in this old Huston is a 262 cubic inch powerdome inline 6 cylinder with dual Carter single barrel carburetors with dual exhaust.
The body is in really good shape and there is no rust in the floor pans, trunk pan or door bottoms. The paint is not original but it is the original Hudson colors of Hudson metallic green over light sea foam green. The interior has been replaced including the headliner, seats and door panels were done in original Hudson fabric.
1940 Cadillac Four Door Sedan for sale that was restored in the 1990s that has been garaged kept and well cared for. It has a great looking paint job and a stunning interior. This Collector Car has an original 380 cubic inch Flathead V8 that develops 135 horsepower and runs very well. The car is fitted with a rare early Hydromatic Automatic transmission. In 1940 Cadillac produced a Series 62, Series 60 special, Series 72, Series 75 and Series 90. Body styles included four door sedans, two door coupe, convertible, town car, Imperial, town sedan and a formal sedan.
Charles A. Tilt built his first car in 1905. Production lasted up to about 1911. It was at this time that the Diamond T Truck Company began. By 1915 Diamond T had factories and dealers located all over the United States. Diamond T made military liberty trucks during WWl. In the 1920s business was good with production for both government and civilian patrons. Prices in the 1920s ranged from $2,000 to $5,000. Buyers got their money's worth with quality and innovative trucks.
In the 1930s Diamond T used lots of chrome on headlights, moldings, parking lights and running boards. All that chrome made Diamond T's competition look ordinary. The 1940s brought several successes and changes to this great truck company. The 1941 Diamond T shown above was one of the last small trucks built. After WWll Diamond T only made larger industrial trucks.
