This is a 1948 Ford Woody Wagon that in 48 was build by hand in Detroit by the Ford Motor Co. Building an automobile like this 48 Ford is a skill that has been lost forever.
In the 1930s and 1940s sophisticated and complicated designs came about. The use of aluminum and wood offered a new medium to bring shape and structure together. Nearly every piece was hand shaped, sculpted to perfection by Ford. There is no better form of the use of wood than in the Woody Wagons of the late 1940s
As you can imagine, the cost to build such a vehicle was very slow and expensive process. By the early 1950s it came to an end by most manufactures. Very few of these magnificent Woodies exist today, and to see one fully restored is always a treat
This beautifully restored 1948 Ford Woody Wagon is painted in a gorgeous dark green with tan leather interior and matching tan canvas top. This 1948 Ford Wood Wagon is a magnificently built example of days gone by.
